A life-long, passionate sewer/designer, Sharon is an adjunct instructor in the Fashion Department of Harper College, Palatine, IL. Teaching for over 10 years, her classes include: industrial construction methods of skirts, blouses, pants, dresses, jackets, as well as flat pattern drafting and draping, introduction to CAD pattern design, and stretch knits (sportswear, daywear and children’s wear).
A specialty within her classes is The Little Black Dress. After completing an Inspiration Board, students design their own interpretation of The Little Black Dress based on the same dress sloper.
These garments are then presented at the Jury Show for the Harper Spring Fashion show, during which they are voted on. The most popular design by a student is awarded a scholarship at the Fashion Show. The Harper Fashion Sketchbook features photos of these garments.
Prior to teaching at Harper, she has taught at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois for over 8 years.
A Fashion Group International award winning designer, she is a member of ITAA, the Haute Couture Club of Chicago, and the American Sewing Guild. Sharon recently was a BERNINA Ambassador, offering workshops, classes, tips and techniques while working with BERNINA products.
She resides in Barrington, IL.
